In 2012, I was awarded two quarterly awards from Gannett for exceptional and relentless reporting: one, for my report into the ways inadequate planning cost taxpayers $2 million more than expected to construct a new terminal at Monroe Regional Airport; and two, for my in-depth look at the problems caused by a poorly supervised installation of a major automated water meter project. It left the city two months behind in billings.
